CITY. MEETING PLACE 

 

Multimedia project, 2011, State Museum of Local History, Novosibirsk 

 

Thousands of people live close to each other and intersect in the sphere of social interactions but remain strangers. The installation presents convergence and divergence of private and communal spaces in big modern cities.

The installation combines photo-installation, video-panorama and soundtrack and dedicated to my home city, Novosibirsk. The centerpiece of the project is the construction of light boxes with photographs of city people in their private spaces. The luminous boxes evoke an image of the evening windows of residential buildings. The video-panorama of Novosibirsk is projected onto a concave screen. The soundtrack interweaves people talking and sounds of the streets.
